Jack Is Back!

Jack and family made is safely back last weekend from Washington and the General Assembly he described as "everything I had hoped for."

He was able to go to meetings that were, as he said, beneficial for him as well as ones he hoped his presence would add value to for others. Those of you who were there saw him on the big screens, on the big stage, offering beautiful words and prayer for the newest batch of missions personnel during the commissioning ceremony. I'm sure you were as moved as I was, as he and Grace Powell Freeman led us all in a litany of prayer to send them on their mission.

No casualties resulted from his scooter-driving. It was greatly appreciated, as it allowed him to save his strength for things that were more important. His daughter Stephanie was by his side as an "excellent nurse and caretaker" to make sure he did not overdo it and that he had all he needed.

He got to see people he had hoped and longed to see, and was delighted by touching base with others he had not counted on seeing. That communion of saints was no doubt encouraging and hopeful for him, as he says, he had a "great experience" and is grateful for all the people who helped make it possible for him to make it there.

One of the precious memories that the Snells have is the family “beach week” vacation taken every year while the children were growing up. Thanks to the generosity of a dear family at Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church in Jacksonville (the same family, by the way, that enabled Stephanie and Charley to spend Christmas in Singapore each year while their parents were stationed there), they are planning on spending a few days at Hilton Head Island. They will be staying in the beach house of this gracious family. Join me in praying that Jack’s strength continues so that he’s able to enjoy this family tradition.

Please feel free to share your own prayers below, and words to Anita and Jack. As soon as I have any pictures of his from General Assembly, I'll either post them or provide a link to them on the CBF site.

Jack & Anita,
Thank you for the blessing that you are to so many. We are all overjoyed that things went well for you in Washington. There were many answers to prayer for this trip and for all those attending the General Assembly.

We will remain hopeful for the beach trip to be a success as well!

Love to you, Stephanie, Henry & Charley,
Sheryl

Dear Jack and Anita,
Praises and thanksgiving that you blessed and were blessed by going to the assembly.
You are ever in our prayers for mercy and grace to abound for your every need. You know in some measure by all the affirmations you have seen and heard how blessed we feel by the time you shared with each of us, but what you don't know are all the multiple ways we bless God's name and each other as we share our remembrances of your ministry among us. The blessings of your service will continue to children's children. People who never knew you will benefit from your example because of the impact you have had on our lives.

I wish I could hug you again, but thanks again for who you are and who I am becoming because of knowing you.
LOVE
Ann

Jack and Anita,

Dianne and I were waiting for this wonderful report. The prayers of so many people around the world were answered by your being able to go and be an integral part of the convention. I loved what Ann had to say in her message. I could not have expressed how we feel any better. Your have been, are and will continue to be a blessing to so many people. I know that our grandson, Cole, and granddaughter, Gianna, who are 5 and 1 will know all about Jack and Anita and their family and how much they encouraged and blessed so many of us just by being who they are. you.

God Bless you !

GREAT NEWS! We are so blessed by your example and dignity. Cousin Kay Peebles was in DC and said you really looked well for having been through so very much. We hope that your weekend at the beach is as wonderful as you all have dreamed. The beach has a way of soothing me with its constant ebb and flow - hopefully it will have the same effect on all of you! Love and prayers, Julie and Bill Babcock

We are so thankful that you were able to go to DC. I know it had to be such a special time! I pray that your time at the beach will be beautiful.
You are such a blessing to so many.We are so blessed to have you all in our lives. You continue to be in our prayers many times throughout each day.

It was so good to see you Anita in the elevator and then to see and talk to Jack briefly while waiting for a traffic light to change in front of the Hyatt. We had hoped it would be possible for you to make the meeting. We are so grateful that you made it. We pray that your family will have a great time at Hilton Head.
We love you,

Jack & Anita, you don't know how close you came to seeing Don and I in the audiance last Thursday night in DC. We worked hard to put this favorite trick of ours over on you one more time. For many reasons it just did not work out but oh how much I would have loved to see your face when you spotted us. I guess our memories of similar moments will just have to do for the present. Carole and I are extreamly glad you made the trip. I will be in the Atlanta area the first part of the week of July 16. Perhaps I could stop by for a few minutes. I will call prior to coming to your home. I hope I can get through all the police tape that somehow seems to show up where you live. (That's a private joke for those who may see this.)
Lots of love, Carole and Herman

Jack, Anita and family,
We are glad to hear you were able to go to DC. There was an article in our local paper here about the event. You continue to be such an inspiration to us all. I hope you all are having a lot of fun at the beach. Take care and we look forward to reading your Independence Day message when you post it.

Dear Jack and Anita,
I am so thrilled you were able to attend the General Assembly last week. And now you are at the beach with the rest of the family! The (SC) beach trips with CBC were so meaningful and fun for all of us who grew up under your pastorate! Thank you both for each of them. I pray that the miracle of good days continues now through this amazing chance for another family, beach vacation. God bless the benefactors!

My prayers (and Paul's) are with you all and my heart is absorbed in your journey.

You are an amazing family! Thank you for being "family" and an anchor in my times of loss.

Loving you all (as I have from day one),
ann

I read you are off to the Beach....you DO know Beach Trips always make one young, beautiful and handsome, but how could any of you be anything but! Bob and I spent last week at St. George Island with Meri and Susan and their families. We always think of you and remember those Central Baptist Youth Mission Trips. How you fill our hearts with wonderful memories. We love each of you,

Hi Jacka and Anita,

I haven't posted here for some time, but I just want you both to know that I haven't stopped thinking about you, and I offer up a prayer anytime I think about you. I hope your time at the beach is relaxing and refreshing.

Although I was not at the gathering in Washington, the other day I went to the website and listened to the audio of the commissioning. It was nice to hear your voice, and made me feel as though I was there watching it all. I also recognized Dr. Pinner's voice in that audio.

May God comfort you with peace and strength as your continue the journey.

Jack and Anita,

I talked to Sylvia Ann last night and she told me as much about your time in DC as she could squeeze into an hour & 6 minutes. She was so overcome by all that occurred there she could barely contain herself. The 2 of them were so grateful for the time they had with you and she had many words of praise for Stephanie and the tender way she cared for Jack.
We are so happy that you were able to make the trip to DC and hope that you are having a peaceful time at Hilton Head.
You are in our hearts and prayers always and we continue to be so grateful for both of you and all that you have meant to us through the years.
We love you.
