We only met Jack this past December when he came to speak to our church on global missions. What a great experience! He was the kind of person who moved you the first time you met him. Thanks Jack for all you did and the seeds you planted. Our sympathy and prayers go out to the whole family.

Rarely does one meet somebody like Jack who spread so many seeds of love. The seeds were cast far and wide, and we will see the crop grow for generations to come. Peace.

Jack,
Just leave me a little room in the backyard of your mansion for me to build my mud hut and I'll be happy.
Until then,

Anita and children, what a wonderful example Jack has been in his life, and in his death. He's finally free of his painful illness, but his sharing his trial has been a inspiration of faith to so many. We rejoice with you in the knowledge that he's already where we long to be, but shed tears with you in the absence of his encouraging presence. You're in our prayers. You have our love and admiration.
Ted and Judy Haney
You are all in our thoughts and prayers. We loved Jack and love you too. Mary, Bruce, Brady, Connor and Skylar Wynn
Jack's faith and courage will be a lasting goal for us to attain also. By his example, it will be somewhat easier for us all.
He may not be in our physical presence but the fond, fond memories will last forever.
Love to all who loved him and still do.
Carole and Herman
Anita, Charlie, Stephanie and Henry,

Lots of love to you all,

The Snell Family:
Please know that I along with my fellow B.G.E.A. associates are thinking of you and praying for you at this time of such great loss and sorrow.
Let us somehow rejoice for a life well lived, and remember Jack as one who served so faithfully.
I sincerely appreciate the testimony of his faithful life; one that he lived and we witnessed all the way til his last breath was taken here on this earth.
Jack mentored me in ways he nor I realized at the time, and for that I'll always be thankful.
I was privileded to call Jack my Pastor, my friend, my mentor, and most importantly my brother in Christ.
Prayerful Thoughts & Blessings,
Stan Lambert
Anita; Please know we are thinking of you and praying for you during this time. May you find comfort in your memories and peace in your faith.

In honor of Dr. Snell's lifelong embrace of ecumenism, I thought it appropriate to share this:
I went to visit a Muslim mosque this past week in order to share a meal and conversation with them about our different faiths and their holy month of Ramadan. In talking with a fellow at the mosque about salvation and the afterlife, he told me that Muslims believe there are only three things that are left behind after you die, a sort of "afterlife on earth." The first is the values you have instilled in your children. The second is the churches you've planted. And the third is the lives you have touched. I found it so amazing how the words of my Muslim friend, without him even knowing it, gave me comfort and assurance in dealing with the grief of Dr. Snell's passing. Because Dr. Snell has instilled his values in his own two marvelously gifted children, he has led and ministered to innumerable churches, and he has touched thousands upon thousands of lives in the course of his life - Dr. Snell's legacy lives on in each of us that were honored to call him friend, pastor, mentor, and brother.

As the services end and reality sets in, I pray you will thank God as I did in my father's passing:
*For placing on earth a real man.
*For granting healing to the "life above" over lingering suffering.
*For Jack's inspiration to keep on chugging with a heart full of love and a brain full of common sense.
Know of our continued prayers.

Anita and "kids",
May the Lord give you all an extra dose of the courage which Jack and you all displayed in the "living of these days".

Anita & Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you today. We have been checking the blog every day -- and praying for you all each time we did. We wish that we could be at the funeral, but distance in miles makes that impossible. We just wanted you to know that we were with you in spirit.

Anita and family,
It was my privlege to get to know Jack back in the 70's when we did "small group week" with the missionaries at MOC, and later he helped when I directed that program a couple of years at Pine Mountain. I always appreciated his humor, discernment, and commitment to missions.
You have a rich heritage of having shared his full and meaningful life.

Please know my prayers are with you during these difficult days. I am grateful for the opportunities I had to experience Jack's wonderful spirit. I'm sure I will never sing "Great is Thy Faithfulness" without thinking of Jack.

Dear Anita,
All of us here in TRBC share your grief. Jack has been a very dear pastor to all of us here and we still consider him very much our pastor even after his interim. Jack has impacted many of our lives and I am blessed and proud to have had him as my teacher, mentor and friend.
Our prayers are with you, Charley, Stephanie and Henry. We will miss him very much but we live in the comfort of knowing he is now in a much better place and we will one day meet up with him.
In His love

Although it's a little darker here without Jack, heaven shines brighter with him there.
Anita, my thoughts and prayers continue with you.
Joe McDade
Dear Anita, Charley, Stephanie, and Henry,
My heart aches for the grief you now feel. I feel relieved to know that Jack is no longer in such pain and am thankful for the place God has prepared for him. I can only imagine what it must be like to be in the very presence of God, to get the chance to sit at Jesus' feet. I can imagine the look of joy on Jack's face. Nevertheless, his absence here carries with it great pain for all who loved him. I pray that in time your pain will lessen and your memories will warm your hearts as you reflect on the many significant moments you spent with him. Know that we are present with you in spirit when we can't be present in person. With much love,
Cindy, Eddy, Kaela, and Alex
Dearest Anita - your dear, brave, inspiring Jack had prepared all his friends so well for the end of his journey, but of course for all that we must mourn the loss for us all - and most of all for you and Stephanie and Charlie. We are thinking and praying for you, as we have striven to do for the last months, in love and gratitude for Jack - our amazing fortune in having got to know you both, with all the sharing of music and faith, and in Jack's supreme ability to communicate and strengthen his congregation. It is all a precious part of our lives and memories, which will always be with us.
We know that Jack is now where he knew he would be awaited and comforted - after such a constructive and ever-generous confrontation with death. Courage like that is a true inspiration. What a man!
With all our love - Jen and Brian (UK)
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you, Anita, Stephanie, Henry, Charley. It is difficult to think of getting through the service this Saturday. I will miss the hugs of my brother in Christ. Our prayers are for strength for YOUR journey and for peace in your hearts. May His presence comfort and guide you as you go through the services and try to resume life without Jack. He was a great man whose influence will fulfill the words on a stichery piece in my office -- "Only God can count the apples in one seed."
Love, Julie and Bill Babcock
I did not really know Jack Snell--I only knew OF him. Yet, everything I observed of him at CBF General Assemblies confirmed what I had heard about him: that he was a true gentleman; a compassionate, caring minister; a missionary role model; a man "more silk than burlap"; a man of deep, profound faith; a good friend and mentor. He will surely be missed by all who DID know him personally as well as by those whose lives he touched publically with his Christlike demeanor. God bless you in your great loss.
Anita,Charley,Stephanie,Henry and all the Snell family,
We are so sad for the loss you have suffered, but so glad the pain and suffering for Jack has ended. Even now I can hear the sound of his wonderful laugh in my
ears. We will miss him, but we are so grateful to have had the blessing of having him in our lives all these years.
God's peace to each of you in this time of transition.
Bill and Sylvia
I have never known a finer human being than Jack...and will forever be grateful for the gift of knowing him. Anita, Charley, and Stephanie - you are all in my prayers every day. Know how very much you are loved.

Pleased Anita we were able to meet with you and Jack at the Baptist Conference in Birmingham England and the many memories we hold.
May God be with you and your family
Dr. Snell meant so much to me as a child growing up at Hendricks. I am so sorry to hear of his passing and of your (Anita, Stephanie, Charley) loss. I was able to see Dr. Snell two years ago at First Baptist TAllahassee where I was going to school. It was an amazing day. I still to this day tell my family, "it was the greatest day, AND he remembered who I was!". There was just something about Dr. Snell that I loved and will never forget.
Lynne Hall
Please accepted our belated, but nonetheless sincere, condolences on the loss of a dear man. Dr. Snell was my grandfather's minister at Avondale Estates many years ago.
Jack came into our lives at a time when we desperately needed to feel the comfort of "home". My husband and son and I had experienced the trauma of the tsunami, and soon thereafter my husband required emergency surgery at Mt. Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore. Through concerned friends and Jack's heaven-sent placement, he brought comfort and peace to us during a stormy time.
May the sense of peace he gave us be with all of you now and in the future. Thank you for sharing him with us.
Chris and Claire Santuae
Anita:
Travel has taken me away from this blog, but I have returned a last time to thank God for Jack and my opportunity to know him. I am the better for his presence in my life, off and on, since 9th grade. I hope you and your family are well and will prosper.
Kind regards,
Doug Rohrman
